MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

SUMMARY

I am pleased to present the Youth Movers Uganda strategic plan for the period 2015 – 2019. The first strategic plan is a landmark that represents the commitment of the Board, management and partners to adapt a common strategy to achieve the mission and vision of this fast growing and promising organization. The strategic plan reflects our preparedness as a youth driven organization to proactively contribute to attaining national and global agenda and targets. It is therefore our sincere hope that this strategic plan document will serve as a valuable tool in furthering a successful coordinated approach to direct the organization to contribute towards the global realization of the Millennium Development Plan.

Youth Movers Uganda intends to fulfill its mission under three main strategic areas, that is, Livelihood, Health and Good governance.

Apart from the three main strategic areas under this strategic plan, the board of Trustees plans to build capacity of Youth Movers Uganda to deliver the strategic plan. The organization’s capacity will be developed to ensure adequate financial, human and other resources and systems required for successful implementation of 2015 – 2019 strategic plan.

As we develop this strategic plan, we are giving reflection to our 5 years of existence and contribution to Gulu district local government’s response to poverty reduction, health and good governance. This process of maturity is deliberately and proactively reflected in this strategic plan through which we position ourselves as key partners of local governments.

At this juncture, it is appropriate to acknowledge Youth Movers Uganda’s strategic partners who have contributed tremendously to making us what we have become. I salute the government of Uganda, Gulu district local government, Koro sub county local government, Trocaire, NRC, RALNUC, World Food Programme, NUMAT and last but not least, I salute our dear beneficiaries, staff, volunteers and community members that have kept our flag flying higher and higher.

The challenge at hand is to mobilize and match resources with plans and translate the various commitments aforementioned into practice for a youth driven society. We therefore appeal for support and encourage enduring partnerships in the implementation and delivery of the different programme outputs.
